The 8-13 Rookie Club is part of our Buckmore Junior Series offering competitive sprint racing for 8- 16 year old drivers. Race meetings take place on the full International Circuit and all safety equipment is provided.
Each race meeting comprises a short practice followed by three points scoring heats for each driver to determine grid positions for the final. All drivers will compete in a final. Junior Rookie races do not form part of a championship, they are one off races each time.
The minimum age to take part in the event is 8 and the maximum age is 13. Potential drivers must have successfully completed a minimum of one training lesson at the Buckmore Park or similar at another circuit. Proof of lap times or grades achieved elsewhere will be required.
On the day, the Junior series is run in two race categories, Junior Rookie & Junior Pro. The Rookie drivers drive the 160cc Junior Sodi Karts. The Pro drivers aged 8-13 years old too drive the 160cc Junior Sodi Karts but in a separate race. There are trophies for the top three drivers in each classes.
A Rookie driver can be eligible to move up to the Pro Class after having competed in a minimum of three races and had a discussion with the race director.
Our 2025 championship comprises of 8 rounds of which the best 6 scores will count toward the end of season result. This allows for missed round or to drop a disappointing result. Junior Rookie races do not form part of a championship, and are one off races each time.
